Dear Penguins,

I hope you all had a super rest and a lovely half term. This week we will begin our new topic all about growing seeds, flowers and plants. We will begin by reading 'Jack and the Beanstalk' and retelling the story using some descriptive language and adjectives. We will learn about where this story is set and how it is organised into a beginning, middle and end.  I would like you to use your imagination to describe the land where the giant lives and draw a map or a picture to me show your ideas. In Maths we will be learning how to add 2 numbers together to make 10 and finding all the possible ways to do this. We will then move onto measuring ourselves, beanstalks and using the giant's footprint to find objects that are longer and shorter. You will learn to name the different parts of a plant and plant your own magic bean and watch it grow! I have also put on the class page some lovely ideas from Hampshire music service called 'You got rhythm' and some tasks from the Diocese based on the story of the feeding of the five thousand. I really hope you enjoy learning about plants and enjoy the story of 'Jack and the beanstalk' this week. I am looking forward to phoning everyone learning at home to see how you are getting on with these fun tasks and to hear all your news. Have a great week everybody,

With love from, Miss Swift
